I installed the latest and greatest nVidia drivers on my machine a few days ago. Today, I played BF3. Well, I tried to. The graphics were absolutely fucked. Frame rate so low I couldn’t even navigate the menu. I ran the Passmark benchmark on it, and its DX10 performance was under five fucking frames per second.
Reverted to 296.10 and voila! Magical, wondrous performance, in the order of TEN TIMES BETTER for all the tests.
Really, nVidia? Did you actually test this before releasing it?
Don't hold back, Max – say what you really feel 🙂
As for me, I have had nothing short of problems since using pretty much ANY fucking Nvidia driver after the 270s. Now, I’ve got a driver that crashes everything. Now you say “just rollback”. Sure, to 296.10 which ALSO caused everything to crash (why I upgraded). And THAT was an upgrade from something else that did nothing but crash. I swear, the past five editions, nothing but crashes. Only since 296.10, I’ve had complete system crashes, freezes.
Nvidia are comprehensive d!ckheads and deserve to have their entire empire pulled down around their ears. Rather than try to play any more games, I’m going to post, whereever I can, all night, how Nvidia should just go out of business.
The latest beta drivers seem to have fixed my crashing issues. Have you given them a crack?
Y’know, normally I wouldn’t approve such an angry a post from a random stranger. But I gotta say, driver failures are so incredibly frustrating, I understand the anger. Yesterday, I was playing BF3 and was just about to nail some dude who’d been killing me all game.. and the fucking drivers shat themselves and I was back at the desktop.
But I do have to wonder. If you are having so many problems with video, is it possible the hardware’s an issue? If a customer/user came to me and described that sort of behaviour, I’d be swapping their video card out as quick as I could.
